Maritime and Oceanic History Graduate Workshop
The workshop provides a supportive forum for original postgraduate research into maritime and oceanic history, from antiquity to the present. We seek to foster dialogue on the broader possibilities of maritime history beyond traditional nautical topics, especially the significance of oceanic history for transnational, imperial, economic and intellectual historiography. Research agendas include the history of seaborne trade, oceanic ‘worlds’ (e.g. the Atlantic World), overseas migrations, navies and fleets, littoral communities and diasporas, war and society at sea, and maritime knowledge networks.
