Researching (with) Social Media reading group
The aim of this reading group is to bring together staff and students across disciplines to explore findings and methods of research involving social media. The reading group will cover a wide range of themes, including activism, advocacy, surveillance, identity, politics, everyday life, big data, ethics, journalism, accountability, and pluralism – and any others deemed of interest by the membership.
Each month, we will meet to discuss a reading. Whenever possible, the reading’s author will be in attendance and will begin the meeting with a short presentation on the research’s methodology or other relevant aspects. The reading group, which is funded by the ESRC and co-convened by Ella McPherson from Sociology/CGHR and Anne Alexander from the Cambridge Digital Humanities Network, will be open in the first instance to staff and PhD students, with remaining places allocated to MPhil students.
