Mental Health Life Course Lecture Series
We are excited to announce the second lecture in the Mental Health Life-course Lecture Series:
Blueprint: The DNA revolution and a lifespan approach to psychological traits
We are delighted to welcome Prof. Robert Plomin, FBA , Professor of Behavioural Genetics at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre , Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London.
Professor Plomin is an international expert in behavioural genetics and directs one of the world’s leading twin studies, the Twins Early Development Study (TEDS), which has followed over 10,000 twin pairs and is one of the longest-running and largest twin studies in the world. Professor Plomin is a recipient of lifetime achievement awards from the Behavioural Genetics Association, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Research in Child Development.
His Life-Span Lecture will draw from his recent book, Blueprint: How DNA makes us who we are to argue that DNA is the most important factor shaping who we are and that the DNA differences inherited from our parents are the consistent, life-long source of psychological individuality. He will hold-up the potential for behavioural genetics to predict our psychological promise and problems, requiring us to rethink parenting, education and society.
Lunch and networking will begin at 12.30pm, followed by the lecture starting at 1.15pm
Car parking can’t be booked – there are multi-storey car parks on site (Car Park 2 on the map), or there is also Park & Ride, with a bus stop 5 minutes walk away.
