Abstract
As 3.5 billion more people will populate our planet by 2050, and the majority in cities, we need to rethink how our agricultural systems brings food to urban areas. In the Energy Efficient Cities initiative, we are developing tools to optimise the integration of urban farming into our cities, by reusing waste resources, and assessing the multiple value streams of urban edible plants. From putting hydroponics in the Engineering Department, to analyse the city of London’s schools and urban farming networks, this presentation should show how challenges can be addressed and improve resource use efficiency.
