The last 15 years has seen a gradual and inexorable rise in the importance of aerodynamics in all forms of motor racing, and particularly in Formula 1. Because of this, there has been a corresponding rise in the importance of wind tunnel testing, and in the complexity and sophistication of the systems employed in the wind tunnels.
