Abstract
We invite you to join CUiD for this highly-anticipated panel discussion. Panelists include: Dr. Richard Drayton, History Faculty, Cambridge, Dr.Ha-Joon Chang, Economics Faculty, Cambridge, Dr. Shailaja Fennell, Development Studies Department, Cambridge.
The evening will begin with a series of 20-30 minute presentations from each panelist on the legacy of colonialism: its role in the “underdevelopment” of ex-colonies. A geographically and chronologically wide-ranging set of case studies will be discussed, as our speakers have research experience in areas including South Asia, China, Europe, the Caribbean, Africa (and the list goes on).
Before the event, we are asking YOU which questions you would most like answered by the panel. Please send your questions to president@cuid.org. We will then pick 5-10 of the most common questions, upon which the panelists will frame their presentations.
Following the panelist presentations, the discussion will be opened up to the audience.
Dr. Chang (and potentially other panelists), will be bringing along copies of his latest book to sell after the event. Therefore, please remember to bring along some cash if you intend to make a purchase!
We look forward to seeing you there! The CUiD Committee
