Abstract
Dynamic clusters of active colloids, at a plane wall, have been reported in recent experiments. Attractive hydrodynamic forces are knowns to cause the aggregation of active colloids at a plane wall, while the interplay of hydrodynamic and chemical field is not yet understood.
In this talk, we explain the role of chemical and hydrodynamic interaction in determining the emergent behavior in a suspension of active colloids. To this end, we derive the expression for the chemohydrodynamic force per unit area using the boundary integral formulation for Laplace and Stokes equation. We apply the formalism to rationalize the experiments and derive testable predictions.
