Abstract
I will talk about renaissance humanism and new engineering ambitions in the renaissance, from Brunelleschi, Daniele, the Theatres of Machines to Tartaglia: this is the rise of a new kind of socially ambitious, epistemically ambitious Archimidean mathematical engineer.
