Abstract
This lecture addresses such a creative relationship in the light of some industry funded applied research activities. The first study is related to solving a vibration problem in stationary equipment. Heat exchanger, an essential component in power plants and petrochemical industries, is known to suffer flow-induced vibrations, which damage tube bundles and shorten their service life. Mechanical Standards (TEMA) has set some guidelines to predict the onset of such damaging vibrations.
