His final work, the scribbles of an old and broken man publishing stuff he had done more than 40 years before … or NOT , as the case may be. A technical treaties on the new mathematical sciences of strength of materials and projectile motion, this is Galileo as polemicist at his most subtle, and to his readers in the middle decades of the 17th century, most persuasive. Once unpacked, this work is revealed to be so clever it will make your toes curl.
