Abstract
Michal Drewniok is the Research Assistant in Material Efficiency in Construction at Cambridge University Engineering Department (CUED). His background is civil engineering and he holds a M.Sc. Eng. with PhD in concrete technology pending from Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. In 2015 he joined The Resource Efficiency Collective led by Jonathan Cullen, and The Use Less Group led by Julian Allwood where he investigated (re)use of steel in construction as a crucial mechanism for carbon and energy savings as well as was analyzing material efficiency during new building design process. In March 2018 Michal joined the project Minimising Energy in Construction (MEICON) led by John Orr. The long-term vision of MEICON project is the built environment to be designed cost-effectively, based on whole life cycle energy consumption using minimum material resource for appropriate performance.
