Abstract
In her seminal 2008 paper, Maryam Mirzakhani used the Weil—Petersson volume of Moduli space to show that the probability that a random simple closed curve on a surface is separating is a rational number. We will talk through the process of obtaining experimental evidence that this probability is 1/49 for the surface of genus two. This work was supported by XSEDE (NSF grant ACI -1548562).
