In this talk I will focus on the dust properties we can infer from the observation of its dynamics. I will present two examples. A first, extreme case is the AU Mic debris disk, in which substructures are identified, moving faster than the local escape velocity. A second more generic case is the NIR excess attributed to hot dust around ~20% of the field stars. In both cases, I will show the constraints we can derive from the dynamics on grain size, composition, stellar wind or dust production mechanism.
