Abstract
I discuss the possibility that seed size could be a neutral trait. I present the results of a modelling exercise that shows that under most realistic scenarios, this is really not possible, as small-seeded species have an in-built advantage. It therefore seems that the idea of equalising trade-offs is not so simple as it first appears.
