A presentation in three parts: 1) Positioning the different ways schools and teachers engage with research and how that in turn potentially positions academic researcher – including my own story: teacher, teacher researcher, academic. How practice has shaped my research. How research has shaped my practice. 3) Looking forward: changes in schools and universities and what this mean for research and researchers, concluding with some thoughts on where a PhD graduate qualifying today may be working over the next 20 years as both school and university sectors change.

James will be joined by Rabab Sehr and Dorcas Fakile who have researched student experience under the theme “is my university White?”’
