Like any subject, neo-Darwinism has its orthodoxies. One is that the end-points of evolution are effectively open-ended and show vestigial predictability. Unfortunately for this orthodoxy, which insists humans are a complete evolutionary fluke, the scientific evidence points in the opposite direction. If intelligence is an evolutionary inevitability then perhaps there is more to the world around us than meets the eye? Series programme
