The deposition of a beam of nanoparticles (atomic clusters) needed scale-up by 5 orders of magnitude to reach the gram scale. I will discuss our unusual matrix-based method, measurements of the atomic structure and metastability of the clusters by aberration corrected-STEM, and demonstrations of this solvent-free nano-manufacturing approach (catalysts so far).
