Abstract
The linear Darcy condition across a thin aerofoil, akin to an impedance boundary condition, is often used for modelling trailing-edge noise from porous aerofoil, however these models over predict the noise reduction for high frequencies. Whilst some of this discrepancy can be put down to noise generated by surface roughness, this talk discusses the validity of the Darcy boundary condition and compares these linear predictions which only account for the effects of viscosity to non-linear models which also include the effects of inertial via the Forchheimer equation.
