Abstract
We’ll begin with a gentle introduction to a wreath product, and the concept of a group having an invariable generating set. I will try and work only with concrete examples (all infinite groups based in some way on the integers). There are then two proofs that I’ve written recently, whose basic ideas I’ll hopefully capture for an audience new to the definitions being introduced. I hope to illustrate where the proofs have come from and why they are natural.
