Adapting binary software with multiple object layouts
- ๐ค Speaker: Stephen Kell (University of Cambridge)
- ๐ Date & Time: Tuesday 18 November 2008, 13:00 - 14:00
- ๐ Venue: Computer Laboratory, William Gates Building, Room FW11
Abstract
Late, unanticipated or evolution-tolerant composition of software entails linking together of mismatched binaries. One challenge of this is handling differing expectations of object layouts in memory. This talk outlines ideas about two or three possible approaches to the problem. It is also a plea for discussion, high-level feedback, technical suggestions, case-study ideas and other helpful contributions.
Series This talk is part of the Computer Laboratory NetOS Group Talklets series.
