Abstract
Chinese journalism is different from western journalism in many ways. Realizing the necessity of telling the Chinese story to western audiences, the Chinese media has been continuously āgoing globalā for more than a decade, playing an active role in de-Westernizing Media Studies. China Daily is at the forefront of China’s English-language newspapers carrying out this mission. The United States presidential elections are widely accepted as a symbol of American democracy, and a rather ideal event to examine the characteristics of Chinese media. Taking the significance of studying Chinese journalism and the US politics, this talk will be about some preliminary finding of the commentary on the 2020 US presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump in Chinaās English-language newspaper China Daily, and the domestic newspaper The Peopleās Daily.
