Various excellent talks scheduled for this meeting, part of the Cambridge-Fudan Cognitive Neuroscience Seminar, that aims to facilitate research collaborations between Fudan University and the University of Cambridge.

Qiang Luo, PhD, Associate Principal Investigator at Fudan University (ISTBI)

Title: Computational modelling reveals converging effects of serotonin on behavioural flexibility in rats and humans

Biography Dr Qiang Luo is an Associate Principal Investigator at Fudan University, Institute of Science and Technology for Brain-Inspired Intelligence (ISTBI). He was a Senior Visiting Lecturer at King’s College London between 2016 and 2019, and was Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge between 2018 and 2019. His research takes a multidisciplinary approach to investigate adolescent brain development, advance the understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders, and design personalized treatments using artificial intelligence. He is the principal investigator of 3 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and has published papers in top journals in this field. Dr Luo is happy to consider the applications for PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers who are interested in cognitive neuroscience, biomedical big data mining, or artificial intelligence. Jonathan Kanen – Postdoctoral Research Associate at Cambridge University

Title: Computational modelling reveals contrasting patterns of behavioural flexibility in stimulant use disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder: remediating effects of dopaminergic D2/3 receptor agents and comparison to LSD

Biography Jonathan Kanen completed his PhD as a Gates Scholar at the University of Cambridge, King’s College, in 2020, under the supervision of Professor Trevor Robbins. His dissertation was titled Neurochemical modulation of affective and behavioural control: models and applications for psychiatry. Jonathan is the recipient of the Angharad Dodds John Bursary in Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry 2020-2021, and is a member of the Trinity College, Cambridge, Postdoctoral Society. Originally from New Jersey, he is also an MD candidate at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, NJ, USA and will go on to specialise in psychiatry. Jonathan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, after which he worked as a junior research scientist in the laboratory of Professor Elizabeth Phelps at New York University. Jonathan’s research has been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Journal of Neuroscience, and Cerebral Cortex, among other journals.
