I’ve entitled this talk Our Power as Technical Designers, and it is meant to be both a conversation and a provocation: I want to engage with you all in your larger mission of how we develop and use AI for positive change and good, to explore what that means, and then to spend some time thinking about what responsible AI might be, relying on some of my recent work in sociotechnical AI, and broader conversations around ethical AI in our field.
