Abstract
Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency feature has been lauded for upholding individuals’ rights and freedoms. However, there are material economic and social costs to valorizing privacy – some obvious; some less so. This talk by the author of the new book Good Data: An Optimist’s Guide to Our Digital Future explores these trade-offs, offering an alternative theory of digital power to “surveillance capitalism”.
