Abstract
As part of the opening events for the Gold of the Great Steppe exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum (https://fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/visit-us/exhibitions/gold-of-the-great-steppe), we are delighted to announce that two leading Kazakh archaeologists, Professor Zainolla Samashev and Professor Abdesh Toleubayev, whose research underpins the exhibition, will be giving guest lectures in Cambridge on the archaeology of Iron Age Kazakhstan. This is a joint event hosted by the King’s Silk Roads programme, Cambridge Central Asia Forum, and the Fitzwilliam Museum, with kind support from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK and the Department of Culture of the East Kazakhstan region.
The lectures will take place on Tuesday 28th September at 2:30-4pm.
The lectures will be delivered from King’s College, and we have capacity for 20 guests to be present in person, subject to relevant health and safety measures.
The lectures will also be livestreamed on Zoom.
