- 👤 Speaker: Botanic Garden guides
- 📅 Date & Time: Thursday 11 June 2009, 18:30 - 21:00
- 📍 Venue: Cambridge University Botanic Garden
Abstract
THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED - NO MORE TICKETS AVAILABLE
Our annual pilgrimage to the delightful Cambridge University Botanic Garden will be taking place in mid-June rather than May, to see the garden slightly later in the season. As in previous years, we will be escorted in small groups around the Garden. The garden is closed to the public in the evening, so we will be able to enjoy its tranquility undisturbed. As we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth in 2009, specific Darwin-related points of interest will be highlighted (e.g. the variants of the single species of black pine, Pinus nigra, planted by Darwin’s mentor Prof. Henslow).
The tour will end with a glass of wine or soft drink in the Temperate House.
Meet at the Brookside Gate entrance of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden on Bateman Street (near Trumpington Road), Cambridge CB2 1JF . See www.botanic.cam.ac.uk
Families welcome. Age 10+
