Abstract
3D Printing and Biofabrication for Healthcare and Sustainability
Abstract
3D printing enables objects of complex shapes to be directly assembled from digital models, empowering the freedom of design & customization. More recently, 3D printing has been also envisioned to offer a sustainable alternative to traditional manufacturing techniques. This presentation will discuss my group’s recent work in 3D printing and biofabrication for Soft/ Green/ Bio & Living materials at different length scales. I will show how these technologies can be applied in healthcare, and how fibre printing can underpin future eco-friendly sensor fabrication. Moreover, how biofabrication may ultimately fulfil its potential to deliver in vitro disease models and engineered tissues will be briefly considered.
