Abstract
The local-global conjectures predict a strong relationship between certain representations of a finite group and its local subgroups. Since many of these conjectures have been reduced to questions about finite simple groups the representation theory of these groups turns more and more into focus. For simple groups of Lie type, quasi-isolated blocks form an important class of blocks. In this talk we will therefore discuss the structure of these blocks for groups and applications to the Alperin-McKay conjecture.
