Abstract
Dan Meyer, expert sword swallower, three times Guinness World Record holder and winner of the 2007 Ig Nobel Prize for Medicine, is widely recognized as the world’s foremost authority on the ancient art of sword swallowing.
He was the author of a year-long medical study ‘Sword Swallowing and its Side Effects’ published in the prestigious British Medical Journal. For this he received one of the 2007 Ig Nobel Prizes; awarded for research that “first makes people laugh, and then makes them think”. He also made history by being the first person in America to swallow a solid steel sword while submerged underwater in a tank of live sharks and stingrays
During the evening he will discuss the history and medical aspects of sword swallowing and demonstrate his art live on stage, in what promises to be an unforgettable show.
We look forward to seeing you there!
