Abstract: Scattering amplitudes are key ingredients for any QFT prediction. Although the recent past saw many interesting results for scattering amplitudes in planar N=4 SYM , these cannot easily be generalised to beyond the planar limit or to less symmetric theories. As a result, much less is known for amplitudes in realistic theories. In this talk, I will describe a recent calculation of three-loop 2 → 2 QCD scattering amplitudes, beyond the planar limit. After discussing the main features of the computation, I will also illustrate with few examples how these results can be used for LHC phenomenology and for improving our understanding of the structure of perturbative gauge theories. Specifically, I will discuss how one can use the gg → γγ 3-loop amplitude to better constrain the Higgs lifetime, and the elastic parton-parton scattering amplitudes to investigate the Regge limit of QCD .
