On the topology of black holes

Abstract
In this talk we will discuss Hawking’s black hole topology theorem and its generalizations, and will construct examples of asymptotically flat Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature that contain outermost minimal hypersurfaces which are, topologically, a product of spheres.
