This paper aims to demonstrate how the study of topographical and hydrological features can be combined with archaeological evidence to allow to determine the precise location of a major military engagement. The battle to be discussed is Forbie. Fought in 1244, it was one of the largest defeats suffered by the armies of the Crusader States, essentially sealing their ultimate destruction.
