Abstract
Do you ever wonder how to recover from the stress of term, or want to know how to enjoy a mindful and nourishing winter break? Do you sometimes find big festivals like Christmas a bit overwhelming, and want to better secure a peace of mind?
Join us at the Buddhist Society’s last Wise Wednesday speaker event this term!
Our speaker, Philip Guildford, is going to share with us how we can spend this holiday more mindfully. Philip is a long-time meditation practitioner and teacher of many courses in the Samatha tradition. A graduate of Natural Sciences from Jesus College, Cambridge, Philip is now the Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Engineering at the University.
Philip’s talks and classes have been extremely well-received. It would be a good opportunity to ask questions about your own practice and to clarify doubts.
The event will take place this Wednesday (30th Nov) from 8.00 to 9.00 pm at Teaching Room 1, Old Divinity School.
Come along to meet and socialise with other Buddhist peers at the university or just to learn about some interesting Buddhist philosophy! Everyone is welcome, no prior knowledge in Buddhism or experience in meditation required.
The schedule will roughly be as follows:
- 8.00-8.15 Guided meditation practice
- 8.15-8.45 Sharing
- 8.45-9.00 Discussion and questions
Free snacks and drinks will be provided.
Feel free to stay after the session to have a chat with the speaker or the committee members.
Series This talk is part of the Buddhist Society Talks series.
