Abstract
The ray method for finding high-frequency asymptotic approximations in the theory of diffraction and propagation of waves is developed to the `method of random rays’, which provides exact solutions of the Helmholtz equation represented by slightly adapted probabilistic Feynman-Kac formulas for elliptic boundary value problems,
