Morse homology on infinite dimensional manifolds and Lorentzian geodesics

Abstract
We discuss the problem of developing a Morse theory for gradient flows of functionals whose critical points have infinite Morse index and co-index. The resulting theory is applied to the classification of geodesics connecting two given points on a globally hyperbolic Lorentzian manifold.
