- 📍 Venue: Hoyle Lecture Theatre, Institute of Astronomy, Madingley Rise
Abstract
This two-day KICC science focus meeting will focus on the formation and evolution of the Milky Way galaxy. Thanks to recent insights into the Milky Way from stellar surveys such as Gaia and APOGEE and high-redshift galaxy observations with JWST , it is timely to discuss the Milky Way and its high-redshift progenitors in both theory and observations. The first part of the meeting will be a workshop with talks focusing on:- Observed properties of the MW, from high redshifts to present day
- High-redshift view of the MW-like galaxies from variety of surveys
- Theory – Building MW-like galaxies in numerical simulations
Invited speakers include: Robert Grand (Liverpool John Moores University), Ricardo Schiavon (Liverpool John Moores University), Hannah Übler (KICC), Freeke van de Voort (Cardiff University).
The second part of the meeting will allow for establishing new collaborative projects between theorist and observers, and between local and high-redshift enthusiasts.
Series This talk is part of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology Seminars series.
