Abstract
Generalisation, universal knowledge claims, and recommendations are ubiquitous within disaster research, policy and practice. This seminar will show how these can lead to miscommunication and the misapplication of actionable knowledge. Our speakers will expand on themes surrounding generalisation in disaster studies, vulnerability, interdisciplinarity and translating research into practice. Ultimately, this seminar will call for more inclusive, contextual, and epistemically responsible disaster research, policy and practice.
Series This talk is part of the Cambridge Disaster Research Network series.
