Abstract
Inuit Piqutingit (What Belongs to Inuit)
The screening of this remarkable film is occasioned by the visit to Cambridge of Inuit Scholars Bernadette Dean and Deborah Kigjugalik Webster. This remarkable documentary follows a group of Nunavut elders who travel to five museums in North America to see and identify artifacts, tools and clothing collected from their Inuit ancestors. The film reveals the power of museum collections and invites viewers to reflect more deeply on how they came to be, and what they mean for the cultures that created them.
The film will be introduced by Producer Bernadette Dean accompanied by a short presentation in which Inuit scholar Deborah Kigjugalik will speak about the call for a museum to be created in Nunavut.
Inuit Piqutingit (What Belongs to Inuit), Igloolik Isuma Productions, Kivalliq Inuit Association 2009, Producers Bernadette Dean, Katarina Soukup, Zacharias Kunuk. English and Inuktut w/Eng s-t.
