Abstract
I will describe a simple “combinatorial” object, Kontsevich’s graph complex GC_d, with the necessary background to understand the definition, and then explain some elementary calculations with it. I will then explain how it plays a role in a conjectural picture of the topology of the space of all homeomorphisms of Rd, as well as the space of all diffeomorphisms of Dd.
