Abstract
Imagining has been at the core of attempts to define literature for centuries. It has had a rich, if at times contested and antithetical, relationship with the biblical text. This paper will explore aspects of what it means to imagine biblically. It will focus on the nature of inspiration, creativity, and the implications which the scriptural narratives of creation and the cross have for aesthetics and the practice of literary criticism.
