Abstract
Tatiana Bilbao is a practicing architect based in Mexico City but with projects around the world. Her work encompasses a range of building types, and is fundamentally concerned with the discovery of space through the unfolding experience of inhabitation. Recent projects include the Jinhua Architecture Park, China, the Irapuato Spectacle, Parque Biotecnologico, Culiacan and Centro de Artes Escenicas, Guadalajara.
Bilbao was included in Architectural Record’s 2007 Design Vanguard, and A+U and Domus have published her work.
Bilbao is included in Beyond Modernist Masters: Contemporary Architecture in Latin America (Birkhäuser) a new book which presents an alternative panorama of Latin American architectural practices focusing on a variety of projects built during the last 30 years. The author, Dr. Felipe Hernandez, unveils a wealth of new architectural practices, themes and aspirations amongst a younger generation of architects whose work differs greatly from that of their modernist predecessors.
Dr. Felipe Hernandez will lead a discussion following the talk.
