Abstract
Join us for an evening of thought-provoking discussion with The Rt Hon Sir Nick Clegg and Matt Brittin β both alumni of Robinson College β as they explore the urgent themes raised in Nick’s new book: How to Save the Internet: The Threat to Global Connection in the Age of AI and Political Conflict (Penguin Books, 2025).
In his timely and challenging new work, ‘How to Save the Internet’ Nick examines where Big Tech has gone wrong and argues for bold reforms to safeguard the internetβs role in global stability. While acknowledging the urgent need for regulation, he contends that many criticisms of tech platforms are overstated, and warns that imposing national borders on the internet risks undermining its vital capacity for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, education, trade, scientific research, and human progress.
Join us for an interesting and engaging evening as Nick brings unique insight and expertise from his time as President, Global Affairs at Meta (2018β2025) and UK Deputy Prime Minister (2010β2015), and Matt (until recently President, Google EMEA ) draws on his experience of over 20 years in technology and media, as they reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the digital world today.
