OGGW04 - Stability and probabilistic methods

We discuss a conjecture about unitary representations of higher rank lattices which would generalize conjectures and results by Shalom and Bekka-Burger-Sarnak-Clozel-Margulis. We try to convince the audience that it has an important role in the cohomology, rigidity and stability of higher rank lattices. Based on joint work with Uri Bader.
