Abstract
Abel Walekhwa helps countries prepare for emerging and re-emerging diseases. This is achieved through mathematical modelling, field simulations, and diagnostics development. Over the last three years, he has developed more than five mathematical models that have informed the Ugandan ministries on the early detection of diseases. He is a fourth-year PhD student at the Department of Veterinary Medicine with Dr Andrew Conlan.
