This talk outlines a current book project that examines the Asian Underground music scene in the decade between 1995 and 2005. Focussing on an avant-garde British South Asian music scene that emerged in London in the mid-1990s, the project looks back on the kinds of postcolonial multiplicities, convivialities and new social and spatial formations that this emergent urban soundscape precipitated. Reflecting on the scene and the work of bringing this recent urban history into representation, the talk also reflects on the kinds of memory, nostalgia and urban anemoia that this soundscape and music scene has generated, and their importance now.

This talk is part of the Urban multiplicities seminar series series.
