Abstract
The Lost Generation of the Great War
Charles J. Stille Professor of History at Yale University, Jay Winter is a leading specialist on the First World War and its impact on the twentieth century. His other interests include remembrance of war, European population decline and British popular culture. Prof. Winter is the author of a dozen books, including Socialism and the Challenge of War, Ideas and Politics in Britain, 1912-18, The Fear of Population Decline, Sites of Memory, Sites of Mourning: The Great War in European Cultural History, and Dreams of Peace and Freedom: Utopian Moments in the 20th Century.
The event will be introduced by Dame Anne Lonsdale CBE .
