Abstract
Inkjet printing, enhanced and combined with functional fluids, is beginning to be used to produce products as diverse as electronic circuits, bone implants and anti-counterfeit product labelling. Functional fluids are fluids that undergo some form of phase transformation to produce functional structures, built up layer by layer, using inkjet printing as a micro-dispenser for the fluids. The talk will look at the potential for these methods and also at some of the challenges that will be involved in realising them in practice.
