Abstract
Neglected by western drug companies, increasingly drug-resistant parasites and insecticide-resistant mosquitoes are threatening to procure a global malaria crisis. Vaccines would provide a cost effective solution, but why is it taking so long?
This is the first of a series of lectures by the new Cambridge University Global Health Society. We start with our very own expert on global infectious diseases â Dr Andrew Carmichael. Celebrated for his knowledge and enthusiasm for exotic infectious diseases, Dr Carmichael will explore the exciting topics of the biology of malaria and development of candidate vaccines. We look forward to seeing you!
