Abstract
Neglected by western drug companies, increasingly drug-resistant parasites and insecticide-resistant mosquitoes are threatening to procure a global malaria crisis. Vaccines would provide a cost effective solution, but why is it taking so long?
This is the first of a series of lectures by the new Cambridge University Global Health Society. We start with our very own expert on global infectious diseases â Dr Andrew Carmichael. Celebrated for his knowledge and enthusiasm for exotic infectious diseases, Dr Carmichael will explore the exciting topics of the biology of malaria and development of candidate vaccines.
