Trusts and Controls in Engineering Design Adaptation
- 👤 Speaker: Simon Reay Atkinson
- 📅 Date & Time: Wednesday 02 February 2011, 16:00 - 17:00
- 📍 Venue: Arthur Marshall Meeting Room, Inglis Building, Engineering Department
Abstract
Within organisations, decision makers have to rely on collaboration with other actors from different disciplines working within highly dynamic and distributed associated networks of varying size and scales. This talk posits the idea of ‘Networks-in-Being’ with varying individual and collective characteristics. [Social] networks are considered to facilitate information exchange between actors. Trust may improve or impair the likelihood of information flow, transfer and subsequent action. This talk looks at different systems, trust versus control and trust as the obverse of risk to consider engineering design adaptation in non-ergodic systems.
Series This talk is part of the Engineering Design Centre series.
