Abstract
Residual stresses can play a major role in influencing the structural integrity of engineering components and structures. In safety-critical components, accurate knowledge of residual stress is required for damage tolerance calculations to be made effectively. This talk will review recent advances in techniques for the measurement of residual stress at large and small scales, with examples from aerospace and power plant applications.
